really cold in my basement?
I live in Baltimore and temperature. here can be quite high and humidy very sticky. I saw a ranch-style basement witha furnished house, the problem is when we turn the air condition at about 71 F 'Basement is much cooler, then on the floor with all the vents closed it feels like 65 there. Is there a simple way to solve this problem or I'll have to spend lots of money? thanks
Thor is on track. There are two ways to remedy this (both are not cheap). 1. Have separate units for upstairs and installed in the basement. 2. Have zone valves installed to prevent the air from the basement floor where only the cooling needs. You must be full support on blocking registers. If you leave drop the airflow through the system too much, you could find yourself with a problem of freezing of the reel. Oh and FYI … Removing humidity more Cold. An air conditioner works by removing moisture. If you remove even more moisture, brrr … The humidity keeps the heat! Same principle as in the winter time. If you add a humidifier, you can set your thermostat at a lower temperature and still be comfortable.
